Tekkinud erinevustele ääremaastumise kontekstis jõuab ka siinne uurimistöö läbi Meeksi ja Padise valla analüüsi.
Padise on uute oludega paremini kohanenud ning vallale on iseloomulik soodsam asukoht kui Meeksil, millest osaliselt tuleneb parem sotsiaalmajanduslik olukord, eriti oluline on mitmekesine ettevõtlus ja valla investeerimisvõime, ning demograafiline olukord.
Padise vald aga ei ole ääremaastunud ja on Meeksi vallaga võrreldes paremas olukorras.

In 1345 Padise Monastery sold the Laoküla Estate and Suur-Pakri Island to the Swedes.
The settlement of Swedes in Estonia can most probably be connected to a similar Swedish migration to the coastal areas of Finland in the 13–15th centuries.
It should also be mentioned that most of the earliest colonised areas belonged to the Church (the Bishop of Saaremaa and Läänemaa, Padise Monastery).

The Swedish name for Pakri Islands ’Rogoy’ (Rye Island) is first mentioned in the letter of the Danish king, which in 1283 confirmed the acquisition of the landed property of Padise Monastery.
In 1345 Padise Monastery sold Suur-Pakri Island to five Swedes for 34 silver marks.
The new owners were allowed to use the land on the basis of the “Swedish Law” (ius Svecicum), which guaranteed personal freedom, settlement right passed on from generation to generation, and fixed taxes.
