Paducah, Kentucky  -  Travel Photos by Galen R Frysinger, Sheboygan, Wisconsin
Paducah, originally called Pekin, began around 1815 as a mixed community of Native Americans and white settlers who were attracted to the spot due to its location at the confluence of many waterways.
Paducah was incorporated as a town in 1830, and because of the dynamics of the waterways, it offered valuable port facilities for the steam boats that traversed the river system.
Because Paducah's earthen levee was ineffective against this flood, the United States Army Corps of Engineers was commissioned to build the flood wall that now protects the city from the ravages of flooding.

Denton & Keuler - Attorneys at Law in Paducah, Kentucky, Avoiding KY Probate by Ted Hutchins   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
The Kentucky estate administration process is generally referred to by lawyers and laypersons alike as "probate." The most important objective of probate is to see that the property of a deceased person (the "decedent") is transferred to his or her rightful heirs.
Although the Kentucky probate process is not as burdensome as the probate process in other states, it is still usually best to avoid it if possible.
While Kentucky's probate laws are sufficient to ensure that a decedent's assets are properly managed and distributed to the appropriate persons, the requirements of the probate process are minimal enough that most people navigate it smoothly without incident.
