Beaks attributed to this species have similarly been encountered in stomachs of sperm whales caught in or proximal to northernmost eastern and western New Zealand waters (Clarke and MacLeod 1982), and from one stranded specimen on Paekakariki Beach (Clarke and Roper 1998).
