Atlantic Records :: Jimmy Page & Robert Plant
When Jimmy Page and Robert Plant reunited in 1994 for their first full-blown project together since the break-up of Led Zeppelin in 1980, it was to be no mere trot round the block for old time's sake.
Page & Plant's "reunion" was one of prodigious logistic and aesthetic ambition.
Fiercely proud of their records, Page and Plant have always regarded the music that comes out of the studio as the starting point of a musical journey, not an ending.

Page is still a piquant colorist, though less ostentatiously virtuoso than in days of yore (possibly by choice -- what would be the point?).
Plant has, over the years, modulated his balls-in-a-vise croon (he enters several songs here a full octave lower than he would have 20 years ago), ringing more subtle changes on that asexual timbre that spawned a mutant generation of metal singers.
Plant's lyrics -- we'll assume they're Plant's for convenience' sake -- have always been pretty wretched when they weren't culled from old blues masters (hell, even then), which may seem like a quibble when you're talking about an experience that is first and foremost auditory.

Page and Plant   (Site not responding. Last check: )
When guitarist Jimmy Page and singer Robert Plant repaired their Led Zeppelin partnership and reunited to tour behind 1994's No Quarter (Atlantic) back when the Boston Garden was still standing, they brought with them an unwieldy line-up that included a second guitarist, a string section, and an Egyptian ensemble.
Plant was in decent form, but there was just too much padding for Page's unique take on the blues -- his scraping rhythms and stuttering phrasings -- to cut through.
But with Page playing with more confidence and finesse than he's displayed in ages, the duo are now forging a solid link to their past rather than merely suggesting its existence.

 Page/Plant
Page, also dressed in fl with decidedly shorter hair, proved that, as far as living up to his larger-than-life guitar god status, he was in tip-top form.
Plant went on to comment later in the show, "Because you've been so good we're gonna play a little country and western motorcycle tune" and promptly blew into "Whole Lotta Love", a full frontal metal assault that was far cry from what Plant had jokingly described a country / western number.
Even though, for the most part, this show was steeped in the past, both Page and Plant have managed to inflate this old dirigible and give her at least one more proud flight.
