Having featured “the sounds and colours of the Mediterranean Sea” two years ago, the Festival is now sailing east to explore the maritime and musical regions from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea.
The Festival is unique of its type in Europe, and has become an essential gathering for the new generation of “singing sailors”.
In its beautiful setting of traditional boats, ochre-coloured sails, and ancient stones, PAIMPOL 2005 will once again bring to life the harbour’s celebrations with a multitude of unmissable sounds, scents and experiences !

PAIMPOL is an attractive town with a tangle of cobbled alleyways and fine grey-granite houses, but has lost something in its transition from working fishing port to pleasure harbour.
It was once the centre of a cod and whaling fleet, which sailed to Iceland each February after being sent off with a ceremony marked by a famous pardon.

St Sampson's Versus Paimpol & Binic
Quote "By way of example, many traditional small French Ports have developed their old working harbours in a similar way and harbours such as Binic and Paimpol continue to retain all the traditional features while still allowing more people to benefit from the increased numbers of vessels that can be berthed there.
The town of Paimpol is recommended and full of character.
Dredge out two meters in the inner harbour, hold a metre of water, fill it with pontoons and small boats, (because it will not be deep enough for large boats) and you have taken away not only that character but also the bird life that feeds in the douit as the tide rises and falls.
