Paine College is contributing to relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Katrina by collecting durable goods.
The Paine College 2005-2006 year school commenced with typical Pomp and Circumstance on Wednesday, September 7, in Gilbert-Lambuth Memorial Chapel.  As she has done for the past 11 years, Dr. Shirley A. Lewis addressed the College's faculty, students and staff with an engaging message.
Lowery was the speaker at Paine College's Baccalaureate on Saturday, April 30, 3 PM, at the Gilbert-Lambuth Memorial Chapel.  Dr. Lowery encouraged the Class of '05 to mainitain their identity and sense of civic responsibility.

He graduated from Haines Institute (1933) and Paine College (1937), both located in Augusta.
Yerby continued his education at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he received an M.A. degree in 1938, and at the University of Chicago, where he began studies toward a doctorate in 1939.
Throughout his career Yerby remained a beloved native son of the South, receiving honorary degrees from Fisk University (1976) and Paine College (1977).

Tasha suggests that because Paine College has religious affiliations it is not "the place to push this issue" and that your activism in some way threatens the availability of resources at Paine College.
I assume she is concluding that if the denominations that support Paine College disagree with the formation of an LGBT organization on campus they would withdraw their support of Paine.

I have been interested in the history of Paine College since the 1930s when I was a student at Emory University.
When I came to Paine as a history teacher in 1962, there were four buildings on the campus which had been erected before 1900.
It was the farm home on the property which was bought in 1886 to be the Paine campus.
