  Macworld: Review: Painter 8
Painter's strength lies in its natural-media features, which expertly mimic real-world media and tools.
Though Painter was the first bitmap graphics program to offer layers, the program's layer and selection features have never been as streamlined as Photoshop's, until now.
Painter won't turn you into a great artist, but if you're used to real-world media and tools, you'll be astonished at how well the program mimics what you already know -- with no muss, fuss, or fumes.

Painting - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
After the decadence of Rococo and as a response to a poor imaginative neo-classicism that grew in late 18th century, a new generation of painters arose with Romanticism.
Far east traditional painting is characterized by water based techniques, less realism, "elegant" and stylized subjects, graphical approach to depiction, the importance of white space (or negative space) and a preference for landscape (instead of human figure) as a subject.
Hegel recognized the failure of attaining a universal concept of beauty and in his aesthetic essay wrote that Painting is one of the three "romantic" arts, along with Poetry and Music for its symbolic, highly intellectual purpose.

Most issues of disappointment for painter artists arise due to a lack of detail being seen and the prints being darker than may have been expected.
Many painter artists want the brush strokes to be visible to further give the artwork a more naturally painted look.
When an artist is not keeping track of the scale of the document as well as the brush size, the brush stroke effects may become lost in the print’s texture (if printed on a textured media like canvas) or too small to discern.
