  Pakhoi - LoveToKnow 1911
PAKHOI, or Peihai, a city and treaty port of China, in the west of the province of Kwang-tung, situated on a bay of the Gulf of Tong-king, formed by the peninsula running south-west from Lien-chow, in 21 0 30' N., 109° 10' E. Pop.
The establishment of a Chinese customhouse and the opening of the ports of Hanoi and Haiphong for a time threatened to injure its prospects; but, foreign trade being permitted in 1876-1877, it began in 1879 to be regularly visited by foreign steamers.
The preparation of dried fish is a speciality of Pakhoi, the fish being exported to Hong Kong.

This booklet was presented to Blanchett shortly after his arrival in Pakhoi by author/artist Margery Stuart, a friend stranded in Pakhoi by a winter storm.

 1964 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee for Public Service - Augustine Nguyen Lac Hoa
Ordained on July 17, 1935 in Hong Kong, he returned again to Pakhoi to teach at the Seminary until January 1937 when he was sent to Suikai Hsien on the Luichow Peninsula as assistant to the parish priest.
Returning to his diocesan headquarters at Pakhoi in June 1949 he again donned cassock and was placed in charge of a hospital and orphanage.
A few days after the Communists occupied Pakhoi on December 5, 1949 Father YUN managed to leave the city by showing to the new authorities the bishop's written permission to take up duties as parish priest in his home village of Chuc San.

On the morning of Friday 13 December 1996, the Australian fishing vessel Moonshot was trawling for prawns off Pakhoi Bank, north of Cape Upstart, Northern Queensland.
At about 0330, with the vessel trawling in a north-north-westerly direction, the Skipper handed over to a deckhand and went below to get some sleep.
It is considered that the Master of Gumbet was unaware of the incident and so was not aware that his vessel may have been involved in a collision.
