Demetrios Palaiologos - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In 1449, the new Emperor Constantine XI gave Demetrios half of Morea in order to remove him from the vicinity of Constantinople.
After the fall of Constantinople to the forces of Mehmed II of the Ottoman Empire on May 29, 1453, Morea remained the last surviving enclave of the Byzantine Empire under the Palaiologoi.
A civil war erupted between Demetrios and his younger brother Thomas, who had already ruled in Morea since 1428.

Particularily if Genoa is harboring the exiled Palaiologoi and used their help to seize Hellas and Morea.
Well, the Palaiologoi in Crete are always Pro-Genoa sort, so if Byzantium doesn't go Pro-Genoa, the Crete Palaiologoi would likely be more willing to throw their lot with Genoa than Byzantium.
Well, Doukas himself doesn't have anything particular against the Palaiologoi, as his rule is absolute enough for him to not worry about usurpation from them.

Actually, 200150 is only triggered by Palaiologoi lines, as it has "Naming for Palaiologoi" remark in it.
This triggers the Palaiologoi end-time events (either 200118 or 200120), which I had assumed meant that by selling Athens, that the Kantakouzenoi line re-entered the Palaiologos event-stream, thus leading to 200150.
But in Palaiologoi end time event 200118 (only one of the three which matter for this case) also states as a trigger that monarch may not be 40186, who is the Kantakouzenoi line monarch of Michael's line for the event's time period.

Warrior-contestants in a muscle-bound variation on reality game shows, they compete for the honor of confronting America's deadliest enemy – code-named Godzilla X – while dressed in the supernaturally powered jumpsuit of Evel Knievel; to win is to charge into battle as their country's greatest defender.
Their names – Game Boy Palaiologoi, Lone Wolf Reiko, and brothers Dazzler Expo Crenshaw and Dazzler Speed Racer Lamar – may suggest the influence of Japanese culture, but make no mistake, they are the red-blooded, true-blue progeny of Uncle Sam.
Their swagger, their aggression, their lust for the win – all belong to the land of the free and home of the brave.

His brother Thomas, who had the sympathy of the people, was continuously extending his possessions, by negotiating with the pope for the help mission.
Unfortunately the circumstances were improper because the residents were tired of the continuous disputes of the family of Palaiologoi and the other noblemen who were bursting out at their expense and of the continuous invasions and enslaving by the Turks, and the fact that not even the Pope could sent them important help.
Dimitrios asked for the help of Mohamed who was worrying about the move that Thomas had made and wanted to give an end at this irregular situation.

When they decided on the colors and the symbol of the new Constantinopolitan club they were forming in Athens, they reached much further back into history, adopting the Byzantine empire’s double-headed eagle as AEK’s symbol, as well as the gold and fl colors also associated with the Byzantines.
The crowned double-headed eagle was the emblem of the Palaiologoi, the last dynasty to rule Byzantine Constantinople.
It symbolized the empire’s domains in both Asia and Europe, and was kept despite the fact that virtually all of the Asian possessions were taken over by the advancing Ottomans, who eventually conquered Constantinople in 1453.

Roman Emperors - DIR Manuel II
He was a member of the house of the Palaiologoi, whose founder Michael VIII in 1261 had driven the Crusaders from the imperial capital, which they had conquered in 1204.
In the course of the fourteenth century the Ottoman Turkish empire had become the major rival of the empire, which, now shrunken to a minor state, had been almost completely expelled from Asia Minor.
Manuel's grave was later destroyed by the Turks, just like all the other graves of the house of the Palaiologoi.

The monastery is probably, however, a foundation of Pavlos Xeropotamenos in the second half of the l0th century A.D. The monastery of Saint Paul only acquired a permanent place amongst the other Athonite monasteries after A.D. thanks to the intervention of the Serb monks Gerasimos Radonia and Antonios Pegases.
Early in the l4th century the Palaiologoi and the kings of Serbia extended the complex, and after the Fall of the Byzantine Empire, the Christian sultana Mara, Greek and Romanian princes of the Danubian principalities made funds available for renovation and additional building.
It was deserted at the time of the War of Independence but finally recovered, thanks to donations by the Russian tzars.

As our reader may remember, the Byzantine coin which was first issued by Constantine the Great, weighed 24 carats.
Pachymeres, a Byzantine historian of the 14th century A.D., informs us that by the time the last Byzantine dunasty of the Palaiologoi came to power (1282-1453), the state currency weighed only 12 carats.
Modern numismatists have been able to determine that these late Byzantine Konstantinata were made of more silver than gold, and the coin had lost more than 50% of its value.

Western rulers, by embracing the learning of the scholars of the Byzantine Empire, their texts, and the images of its church, facilitated the development of the Renaissance while ensuring that they too could claim to be the inheritors of the empire's past.
The revived patronage of the arts under the Palaiologoi led to the increasing popularity of relatively new media, such as miniature mosaic and large steatite icons, and to the development of new styles.
Most exceptional among these styles is a figure type in which voluminous folds of fabric envelop often apparently weightless bodies.

Rather than becoming mired in details, it is important to view the entire development in all areas of life from the first days of the Empire until the last of the Palaiologoi, and to do this from the loftiest standpoint, with a view free of the prejudice of old doctrines.
Only the last dynasties, the Komnenoi, the Doukas, the Angeloi, the Palaiologoi and the Kantakuzenoi were completely Greek and felt themselves to be Greek.
The system developed continually from Diocletian to the time of the Palaiologoi although neither Justinian nor any other later emperor marks an especially remarkable high point.
