It is now functioning in a panoramic, sprawling ten acre campus of its own in Perur Village of Ottapalam Taluk of Palakkad District, Kerala, some 12 kilometers east of and 22 kilometers west of Ottapalam and Palakkad Railway Stations respectively.
The growth of Sadanam Kathakali academy was so fast that it had to be separated form the parent body during 1973 and was made an independent entity, as a registered society, with its own Constitution Byelaws and Governing Body.
There exists hundreds of Kathakali stories mostly taken from the great epics of Ramayana and Mahabharatha written by very great authors in good music.

When the Malappuram district was formed on the 16th June 1969, Ponnani taluk excluding Thrithala firka and the villages of Vadakkekad, Punnayur and Punnayurkulam and Perinthalmanna taluk consisting of Manarkad firka and Perinthalmanna firka excluding Karikadamkunnu and Chethalloor amsoms were transferred to Malappuram district.
The present Palakkad district, as an administrative unit, was formed on the first of January 1957, comprising of Palakkad, Perinthalmanna, Ponnani, Ottappalam, Alathur and Chittur.
While retaining the Thrithala firka with Ottappalam taluk, the villages of Vadakkekad, Punnayur and Punnayurkulam were brought under Chowghat taluk of Thrissur district.

 HISTORY OF MALAPPURAM
P rior to 1947, the area covered by the present district formed part of Kozhikode, Ernad, Valluvanad and Ponnani taluks of the erstwhile Madras Presidency.
Another portion of Ponnani taluk was transferred to the newly formed Chavakkad taluk, while the residuary portion was known as Ponnani taluk.
Perinthalmanna was a new taluk formed out of the erstwhile Valluvanad taluk.

PALAKKAD, MAY 28: Farmers of Chittur who are depending on the inter-State Parambikulam Aliyar Project (PAP) water for paddy cultivation have threatened to re-start their agitation for water from June first week.
The PAP Water Protection Committee of the farmers of Chittur taluk had resorted to an agitation at Anikkode junction for more than a month demanding that the State Government get the due share of water from PAP for the second crop of paddy under the Chitturpuzha Irrigation Scheme.
Though there was rain due to the early arrival of monsoon, it has not helped farmers of Chittur as they used to go for dry sowing in May. But this time, due to the rain they could not do dry sowing thereby delaying the first crop by a month.
