Paleoconservatism - Encyclopedia, History, Geography and Biography
There are many followers of the late Murray Rothbard and Lew Rockwell who embrace paleolibertarianism, and being culturally conservative, espouse many of the same themes of paleoconservatives, but they are wholly committed to economic laissez-faire.
However, the southern conservatives and paleolibertarians are generally in favor of economic laissez-faire and free trade.
Still, some paleolibertarians take an ambivalent view on the subject in keeping with their other economic differences with the rest of the paleocons.

It seems the paleolibertarian question is hotter than ever, as indicated in an email I recieved whcih directed me to this well-expressed piece.
Paleolibertarians also represented Murray and Lew's break with the new left element for the libertarian movement -- those who spurn Christianity and all traditional values and oppose the drug war not because of any commitment to liberty but because they like to get stoned.
The paleolibertarians, then, were Rothbard and his followers who were sympathetic to these views.

No universal consensus exists with paleolibertarians on the debate of what, if any, role the government should play on the issue of regulating immigration and the borders.
While practically all paleolibertarians subscribe to a philosophy of anarcho-capitalism, they differ with what a society with a state (i.e., a state that controls and "owns" property and has a welfare system) should do.

Anthony Gregory posted to a discussion group recently on the differences between neolibertarianism, paleolibertarianism, paleoconservatism, and the "new" kid on the block (who is, in fact, centuries old): paleoliberalism.
Now, to answer [the question of] whether I am a "paleolibertarian," which I imagine was not only based on a misreading of what I wrote, but on a general perception of my politics, probably at least in part due to my writing for LRC.
I happen to agree with paleolibertarians on the incredible importance of issues like central banking and Civil Rights egalitarianism, both of which have done more to expand and empower government in the 20th century than perhaps any policy other than war.

Paleolibertarianism is a school of thought within American libertarianism founded by Murray Rothbard and Lew Rockwell, and closely associated with the Ludwig von Mises Institute.
What's more, paleolibertarianism distinguishes itself from left-libertarianism because it has made its peace with religion as the bedrock of liberty, property, and the natural order." Paleolibertarianism is commonly distinguished by:
Political alliances with paleoconservatism Disaffiliation from the post-Cold War-era alliance between libertarians and the New Left; note, however, that this trend has been checked in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks and the War on Terror, due to the paleolibertarians' growing antipathy with conservatism in general, except for the most distinctly paleoconservative types.

The paleolibertarian beef, of course, is with the coercive distribution by the State of wealth from those who create it to those who consume it.
Clearly, it isn't flattering to have to admit that the force of the Frum faction comes from its endorsement of the Almighty State, while the strength of the paleolibertarian team comes from its enduring commitment to natural rights, to justice and to society – not to the State.

For some latter-day reflections on this brief moment in political in-fighting, Rockwell's recent thoughts may amuse.

Ramesh Ponnuru on Conservatism on National Review Online
Some of these worlds within worlds have naturally fallen prey to the temptation to imagine themselves larger than they are.
"If only the Right were not led by impostors," the bloggers tell themselves, "and the public were exposed to real conservatism" — defined in the subculture's terms: say, pro-war paleolibertarianism — "why, then we would prevail." So the effect has been to increase not only the number of factions but also their factionalism.
It would be foolish, because futile, to seek to impose an artificial conceptual unity on the Right.

Hence Hallowe’en, thus understood, does not reject order, since order (of the right sort) depends on chaos (of the right sort); but it celebrates chaos for its own eerie beauty and transgressive freedom, and not because it gives rise to order.
One reason I’m not a paleolibertarian is that paleolibertarianism entails impiety against the objective and sacred values represented by Hallowe’en.
I’ve argued elsewhere for the indispensability of both “bourgeois” and “bohemian” virtues — the values of the Enlightenment and of Romanticism respectively, one might say — as part of the necessary cultural framework of a free society.
