Geek.com PDA Review: Palm Zire 71   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-19)
I haven't owned a Palm branded device since my Palm IIIc a couple years ago, and was encouraged when I saw the two new devices recently released, the Palm Zire 71 and the Tungsten C.
Speaking of cases, Palm includes a slip case composed of two pieces of rubber-like material over stiff solid pieces that are held together with elastic material and kept closed with a velcro strap.
Palm created a nice solid device with the Zire 71, and with a couple of minor changes it could be a great device.

Palm (PDA) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Palm Treo 700p is one of many Smartphones produced that combines Palm PDA functions with a cell phone, allowing for built-in voice and data.
Originally, it was conceived that all Palm PDAs were to be hardware-upgradeable to an extent, but ultimately, this capability gave way to external memory slots and firmware-upgradeable flash memory after the Palm III series.
Palm handhelds are beginning to become more and more advanced, including the ability to become hard drives on computers via USB cables, and are beginning to merge with smartphones.

Unfortunately, the PDA reviews are limited to one or two sentences as opposed to the features discussions, detailed performance data and product comparisons of the better PDA reviews we found.
Sales of traditional PDAs continue to decline, as they have for the last 11 quarters (according to analyst firm IDC, which in November 2006 reported that sales were down 31.3 percent over the same time the previous year).
PDAs have also made advances in usability to compete with the growing popularity of smartphones, adding more memory, faster processors and greater multimedia functionality.

Palm pioneered the PDA market with the Palm Pilot a decade ago but has been increasingly building its business instead on its Treo smart phones that combine a cell phone with data features such as e-mail and Web browsing.
The pocket-size gadget was a souped-up Wi-Fi-enabled digital organizer that was the first PDA to sport a hard drive, giving it 4 gigabytes of storage at that time a state-of-the-art capacity for portable devices.
Palm does not typically break out sales of its individual products, but company officials reported that revenues for its basic handhelds, which included the LifeDrive and other PDAs, fell 37 percent to $110 million in the quarter ended Dec. 1.

Palm m130 Reviews. PDAs Reviews by CNET.   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-19)
In most other ways, the m130 is identical to the monochrome Palm m125; they both come with a two-toned faceplate and a rubberized screen cover with a little window.
And since the m130 has the same processor as all other current Palm OS devices, you won't be able to notice a difference in its number-crunching abilities.
If you considered the Palm m125 but worried that you couldn't read the small screen, the m130 is a better choice because its display provides greater contrast, making it easier on the eyes.
