The only exception that could be considered "fun" was the Palm IIIe SE, which sported a clear case with the option of cool color flip-lids, though it was still the same old Palm III casing.
Essentially, the Palm m100 is a Palm IIIe with a few new features internally, a completely new case, and a slick ability to personalize the look with snap-on bezels of different colors.
Palm V's screens are 2 1/4 inches square, and the m100's screen--with the faceplate in place--is just under 2 inches square.

 Macworld: Review: Palm IIIe Organizer
The Palm III handheld organizer built on the success of earlier Palm models with its infrared-beaming capability.
The lack of an expansion slot even allows for greater reliability: because there is no expansion slot in the Palm IIIe, there is no RAM card to come loose after repeated bumps and drops.
Unlike the well-publicized Visor from Handspring, which features a USB connection, all Palm devices are serial-only, which means you'll need to purchase a USB-to-serial adapter to sync with Mac models that lack a serial port (adapters sell for $35 to $80).

If you've got a Palm III or beyond, it won't be that much of a difference for you, but us old-time Palm/Pilot users will definitely notice and appreciate the improved screen quality.
Again, I gave the Palm III 5 Geekheads for Geekness back in December '98, and I did become a big fan of the clear case style, which I'm told is Geeky in addition to being aesthetically pleasing.
But overall, the Palm IIIe Special Edition is a cool unit, and is a great gift for someone who doesn't have a PDA or who is still lugging around a non-IR-enabled, 1 MB PalmPilot dinosaur.
