Palm Computing, Inc. was founded in 1992 by Jeff Hawkins, Donna Dubinsky, and Ed Colligan, later co-inventors of the Palm Pilot.
In August 2003, the hardware division of the company merged with Handspring, was renamed to palmOne, Inc. and traded under the ticker symbol PLMO.
In July 2005, palmOne launched its new name and brand reverting to Palm, Inc. and trading under the ticker symbol PALM once again.

The litigation haunted palmOne's steps until the judgment, though that seems odd since the spinoff PalmSource (Nasdaq: PSRC) is technically in charge of the operating system.
The dismissal came because the judge believed palmOne's argument for "prior art." In a nutshell, it stated that similar shorthand recognition systems were in existence prior to Xerox's claim, and so the latter's patent should never have been granted.
If you want a wild ride, palmOne can give you that, but until there's some better evidence of solid sales, I wouldn't touch this one with a 10-foot stylus.

I’ve been playing with PDAs for a very long time, and I’m of the opinion that PDA design peaked with the release of the Palm V. The Palm V was a truly groundbreaking product when it launched, and it made almost every other PDA look big and ugly.
It was the all-metal casing and dark grey brushed finish that turned the Palm V into a style icon that has yet to be equalled in the PDA arena.
However, palmOne has now released the Tungsten T5, and in many ways has recaptured that sleek and stylish design that proved so successful with the Palm V. In my opinion at least, the Tungsten T5 looks fantastic, with a case constructed from metal and finished in dark grey.
