Palmer is a town located in Hampden County, Massachusetts.
Palmer was first settled in 1727 and was officially incorporated in 1775.
In the town the population is spread out with 25.2% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 30.5% from 25 to 44, 22.0% from 45 to 64, and 15.5% who are 65 years of age or older.

Palmer held high offices in the Game Fishing Club of South Australia and the Game Fishing Association of Australia; he promoted the formation of the New Zealand Game Fishing Council; and was an organizer, team captain, and judge for numerous national and international tournaments.
In 1976 Palmer was appointed to the IGFA Board of Trustees --the first IGFA trustee ever to be appointed from outside the U.S.A.-and served with distinction for the remainder of his life.

Samuel grew up in Bradford among many siblings and cousins, all descendants of Joseph Palmer and Sarah Jackman who were among the original founders of Bradford, which was originally "set off" and established from the Town of Rowley.
This Jane or Anne is not listed with her siblings on the list of the children of Samuel Palmer and Anne his wife that was provided to the town clerk of Methuen, Massachusetts before 1765.
It is thought that he moved to Newbury, Massachusetts and later settled and died in the State of Maine.
