Topic: Pam and the Passions

North American Snowsports Journalists Association - February 2005 newsletter   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
To those who have known Pam for some time –and maybe even those who have met her for the first time—it is clear there is no more professional, knowledgeable, competent, helpful and nicer member of the snowsports industry.
When it is justified, Pam is more than forthcoming with information, but in doing so she will never compromise her position in her company and the community.
She wears a genuine smile and her tone always is pleasant, and that’s why Okemo is and always will be a favorite place for journalists to visit – whether it is covering a serious story or just taking a few recreational runs.

According to Norbu, the Sutra Path of Tibetan Buddhism involves primarily the observance of right conduct with the goal of liberation from the domination of passions and desires and the achievement of enlightenment, which is the direct experience of one's essential nature freed from all distortions and limitations.
But the principal goal of Raja Yoga is in the development of the powers and capacities of the soul with the goal of complete mastery and liberation from all appetites, passions, and desire, and the achievement of bliss-consciousness, or samadhi.
The yoga sutras use the principle of active thinking, taking it to the point where the mind is so totally concentrated that it is able to penetrate into the heart of any subject and contact its deeper meaning and essence.

Pam Samuelson asks about another form of legal regulation that may have a big impact on DRM, patents.
Bentham argues, chiefly, that the three-reading rule operates as a self-binding mechanism that allows the legislature to guard against the consequences of its own future passions, myopia, or herd behavior.
By requiring that bills be read and debated on successive days, the legislature may anticipate and forestall future occasions on which it will be seized by deliberative pathologies.

She was also fortunate enough to be one of the few fans of the series who had the talent to make a beautiful online shrine for people who shared her passion.
Like all successful sites, eBay started out as a simple site created by Pierre Omidyar for his girlfriend Pam (who is now his wife) to help her find other Pez dispenser collectors in the Bay area.
Most internet marketers tell you to find a subject that you love or are passionate about, but here’s what I think.

You can see the influence of these films, and Walter's larger interest in Chinese mythology, in the fine novella "Broadway Johnny" (in the anthology Warriors of Blood and Dream) as well as in the geomantic magic used in his novels Metropolitan and City on Fire.
However, lest Walter Jon Williams seem too fearsome a being to approach, let me hasten to add that he moderates his passions with a fine rationality.
For example, he chose to pursue scuba diving rather than sky-diving upon reflecting that in a scuba emergency he could always get to the surface--whereas in sky-diving one didn't always reach the surface intact.
