The reason Panasonic needs to request a waiver is because the technical requirements for delivering an adequate vibratory signal to the inner ear dictates that the frequency response of the phone be stronger in the lower frequencies than for a regular phone.
Panasonic tested the phone with nine consumers and all nine were able to use the phone with their hearing aid on the microphone setting.
Further, Panasonic states that they will provide user information in the Operating Instructions including warnings that the phone is not hearing aid compatible and how to reduce interference if it is experienced in the hearing aid.
