		From accounts made on oath by victim survivors of the mass massacres - who have filed missing person complaints before the local police in Anand, Mehsana, Ahmedabad and Panchmahals in 2002 and 2003 - there are alleged to be more illegal dumps/graves of their lost relatives.
		Panchmahals was one of the six districts targeted by militia between February 28 and March 3, 2002.
		Between March 2002 and December 2005, victim survivors of the mass massacre at Pandharwada made oral and written applications to the DIG, Vadodara, Collector, Panchmahals, Dy SP, Godhra, Dy Collector, Lunawada, Mamlatdar and Khanpur, urging that the remains of their lost ones be traced and returned.

	Carnivore Conservation
		As a dead cow was also found near one of the big cat’s bodies, forest officials believe the four deaths could be due to poisoning, where villagers may have put out a poisoned carcass of a cow, to ward off frequent leopard attacks in the region.
		On Saturday, a one-year-old leopard was found dead near the forest ranges of Chitwa village of Santrampur taluka in Panchmahals distirct while forest officials were on their routine beat duty.
		It is the fourth leopard deathreported by forest authorities in Panchmahals district.

	In Panchmahals, cops wait for absconders
		The Panchmahals police may have arrested 982 accused for their involvement in 179 ofences of communal nature across the district post-Godhra, but they’re being led a dance by a group of about 100 absconders.
		The absconders — tribal labourers — were reportedly involved in loot and murder cases during the communal mayhem in the aftermath of the attack on Sabarmati Express.

		The official says while many areas of Gujarat practise female infanticide which is why the child sex ratio in the state has dropped to 878 (females per 1000 males), the fact that the girl child is preferred in the tribal areas is reflected in the balanced sex ratio in these areas.

		The more striking among the acquittals is that of the Limbadiya chowk massacre, where some 34 persons were allegedly burnt alive in Panchmahals and where the prime accused was Kalu Maliwad who was acquitted just before the assembly elections.

		AHMEDABAD: The CBI report of DNA tests conducted on the skeletal remains of 20 post-Godhra riot victims of Panderwada town in Panchmahals district is likely to be tabled in Gujarat high court on Wednesday.
		The Gujarat police gave details of the report in May this year which stated that one of the 21 bodies killed in Panderwada massacre was handed over the relative after identification while 20 others were buried after completing necessary legal procedures.
