Panchromatic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Panchromatic is a term describing a type of fl-and-white photographic film that is sensitive to all wavelengths of visible light.
Almost all modern photographic film is panchromatic, but some types are orthochromatic and are not sensitive to certain wavelengths of light.
However the development of his technique to achieve a fully panchromatic film was not achieved until the early 1900s, shortly after his death.

 Mt. Reynolds
Panchromatic film is a normal fl-and-white film which you can buy in the store and is what your grandparents probably used.
It is called panchromatic because it is sensitive to light of all visible colors (electromagnetic wavelengths approximately 0.4mm to 0.7mm).
Panchromatic film is typically not as sensitive to subtle variation in green light as some other colors, making it difficult to differentiate between similar vegetation types.

Secondly, the addition of a new panchromatic band sensor, which covers an area of approximately 180km x 180km, should broaden the role of Landsat 7 data to include new areas of operation such as monitoring urban growth, updating maps, integrating cartographic features with GIS data, and so on.
For the panchromatic data, the root mean square (RMS) residuals of the GCPs from the CCRS parametric model are 7.6m in X direction and 5.3m in Y direction.
Although the Landsat 7 panchromatic band is not as sharp as either the SPOT panchromatic or the IRS-1C panchromatic, the wide coverage of the data and its extremely low price make this data a very attractive option for a number of general-use or low-scale mapping applications.

Spectra Cine, Inc - Color Contrast and Panchromatic Viewing Filters
Because the contrast-range of color film is shorter than that of panchromatic film, two types Viewing Filters are available — one for each emulsion.
The correct procedure is to reduce the lighting contrast and the simplest way to do this is to use a fill light or a reflector for the dark areas.
Panchromatic viewing filter permit visual judging and interpretation of a scene by compressing the scene's brightness contrast-range of a Black and White film.

 Welcome to the Holographer
In the mid 90’s, new ultra fine grain panchromatic emulsions, especially Slavich PFG-03C, with a mean grain size of 10 nm—smaller than that of the emulsions previously available—boosted advances in these two fields [10].
In this study we used the new panchromatic ultra fine grain emulsion BBVPan, based on the existing family of BB emulsions, currently manufactured by Colourholographics Ltd, with a mean grain size of 20 nm.
The second aspect is related to shrinkage or swelling of the emulsion after the plate is processed, since in reflection holography this is directly related to the wavelength of reconstruction, and this affects the final replay spectrum and color rendition of the grating.

"Panchromatic" is a term used for images that recorded all the photons in a very broad wavelength band.
Furthermore, a filter is sometimes used to remove blue photons from the image because these photons often are associated with haze, which degrades the image quality.
Since all the photons in a panchromatic image are grouped in a single bandwidth bin, panchromatic images are presented as fl and white images.
