In 1999 the company won the tender for the 1800 MHz frequency, in November, 2000 it started to operate on 1800 MHz in Budapest, in March, 2001 in the whole country.

Unsurprisingly, text messaging had its peak in the few hours before and after midnight 31 December: over half a million SMS messages per hour were sent smoothly from Pannon GSM's network.
