  Panthera - Home
Panthera saves in situ populations of the world’s 36 species of wild cats and the landscapes they inhabit in all regions of the world.
We achieve this by collaborating with, supporting and fostering the world’s leading wild felid conservationists in conducting rigorous scientific research, planning and implementing conservation actions, and working with local, national and international stakeholders to advance wild cat conservation.
Panthera believes that large, contiguous populations of wild cats are important indicators of intact functioning ecosystems, and that the focused protection of wild cats furthers the conservation of a large number of other species present in those ecosystems.

Panthera feautred on the front cover of Hartman Huff's 1987 book "Shoot Again!", published by Bastei-Lübbe Verlag of Germany.
Panthera was the first Gottlieb game with continuous background sound, but if you've ever heard it you'll know that it's nothing worth hearing: "a bear farting in the woods", to quote System 80 guru, Steve Charland.
With such a reccomendation, one might think that Panthera would be unloved but in fact, the game was (and apparently still is) very popular in some of the former French colonies of North Africa, where its appeal is the suitablitly of the gameplay for gambling!

The primary causes of the Javan tiger's decline are hunting and loss of forest habitat, and its final disappearance from Meru Betiri Reserve is linked to the absence of suitable large wild cervid prey.
