Topic: Panzer VI

  Achtung Panzer! - Tiger I
It is reported that in July of 1944, commander of 3rd company of schwere Panzer Abteilung 506, Captain Wakker, destroyed Soviet T-34 at the range of 3900 meters.
Adolf Hitler himself said in 1944 that "One battalion of Tigers is worth a normal Panzer Division...", a fully justified statement when examining actions of SS-Haupsturmfuehrer Michael Wittmann at Villers Bocage and 1st Lieutenant Otto Carius at Malinava.
VI was introduced into service by the enemy in the Autumn or Winter of 1942, and appeared in North Africa in January 1943 and later in Sicily and on the Russian front.

H/E Tiger I (Mark VI-H/E, Panzer VI-H/E, Pzkw VI-H/E, SdKfz 181-H/E, Sonderkraftfahrzeug 181-H/E, Tiger, Tiger I) was a German tank of World War II.
This combat vehicle was first used in late-1942, weighed 55.1-57 tons, had a crew of 5, and was armed with an 88mm cannon (the KwK 35).
Of perhaps some controversy is the argument that a Mark VI was capable of destroying a M4 Sherman[?] at ranges in excess of 3500m, however, Shermans were not capable of penetrating the Mark VIs fore and side armor, even at pointblank range.

The first time the Tiger II saw action was in May 1944 near Minsk, followed by another action (of schwere Panzer Abteilung 501 commanded by Oberstleutnant von Legat) in July 1944 at Sandomierz in Poland.
Only two companies of schwere Panzer Abteilung 503 commanded by Hauptmann Fromme, equipped with Tiger II tanks (with Porsche turrets), were committed to the fighting in Normandy, where their mechanical problems and Allied fighter-bombers as well naval gunfire proved fatal and, by the end of August 1944, all were lost.
A Tiger II from schwere Panzer Abteilung 503 was also the last German tank to be destroyed in the war.

Review - Panzer Elite Action // PC /// Eurogamer
I confess I was leaning toward Concept 2 until I started playing the impressively forgettable Panzer Elite Action, a game that features all of the frustrating limitations of tank warfare and none of the interesting idiosyncrasies.
Once the novelty of being able to topple trees, bulldoze buildings and squish infantry has worn off there really is nothing in PEA, besides the tank-shaped amalgam of polygons at the bottom of the screen, to remind you that this is an armour game and not some ridiculously restrictive third-person shooter.
Here you don't have to worry whether the vehicle in your sights is a titchy tin-pot Panzer II or a massive Porsche-styled Panzer VI Tiger - all threats succumb to two or three rounds from all guns.

Panzer IV were armed with short or long barreled 75mm guns that proved very effective.

In the desert, the British averaged loosing two tanks to one German.  In the bocage of Normandy it became three loses for one Tiger destroyed.  During the break out and run across France it often took five Shermans to kill one Tiger, with four of the Shermans being destroyed.
The German late war panzer developments were outstanding weapons.  Unfortunately they did not have the quality often associated with German equipment.  Between the constant tinkering with designs and use of non-German labor (conscript and slave), poorer quality machines were fielded than could have been.

However, after one chassis with interleaved road wheel suspension had been built, trials were suspended to allow work to be carried out on a further design for a 65-ton tank, the VK6501.
