Paparazzi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Paparazzi is a plural term (paparazzo being the singular form) for photographers who take candid photographs of celebrities, usually by relentlessly shadowing them in their public and private activities.
Due to the reputation of paparazzi as an annoyance, some states and countries (particularly within Europe) restrict their activities by passing laws and curfews, and by staging events in which paparazzi are specifically allowed to take photographs.
Paparazzi argue that they are not in the business of taking intrusive photographs for their own perverse pleasure; instead, they sell their work to dozens of magazines and newspapers that publish such photos for their readers and subscribers.

Posted by: Daniel Solove at October 5, 2005 09:11 PM I find it kind of odd that the initial 1708.8 statute, which was supposedly passed in response to Princess Diana's death, did not address the conduct that was theorized to have caused her death.

As Rex, the head of his paparazzi gang, Tom Sizemore (2003's "Dreamcatcher") does everything but stroke his mustache to alert the viewer he is the villain.
"Paparazzi" is inconsequential, stupid, and cliched to the max, its most effective mise en scene a direct rip-off of a similar climactic moment in 1991's "The Silence of the Lambs." To be sure, even when the film works, which is rare, it is out of cinematic theft rather than actual creativity.
"Paparazzi" is a pile-up of irresponsible notions acting as a frivolous diversion.

As Paparazzi Push Harder, Stars Try to Push Back - New York Times
Routinely now, law enforcement officials said, paparazzi use several vehicles to "box in" a celebrity's car; try to force stars off the road; chase them at high speed as they do nothing more than run errands, often with their children in tow; and recklessly put pedestrians, other drivers and even themselves at risk.
She added that paparazzi had been aggressive for some time: about two years ago one photographer followed her into an elevator as she took her toddler daughter to the pediatrician, screaming profanities at her while his shutter clicked rapid-fire.
Lavely said, paparazzi have taken to wearing hats and sunglasses and covering or removing their cars' license plates, tactics that can prevent a positive identification.

Thematically, Paparazzi is more similar to Children of Dune: Tyler wrote a theme for the main character, played by Cole Hauser, heard in "The Awakening" and "Resolution" and also a theme for the Paparazzi, which is made to sound like swarming insects ("End of the Line"), which undercuts much of the action music.
Paparazzi is not nonstop aggressive action music; Tyler mixes up the sound a bit throughout the film.
Paparazzi, running just under an hour, could have benefited from a slightly shorter run time, as some of the music begins to sound repetitive by the end.

 Howstuffworks "How Paparazzi Work"
Paparazzi are photographers who tirelessly hunt celebrities, public figures and their families for the opportunity to photograph them in candid, unflattering and at times compromising moments.
What began as simple "street photography" is now a high-stakes game of cat and mouse that plays out in the everyday lives of the paparazzi's celebrity prey.
The word "paparazzi" is derived from a character in the Fellini film "La Dolce Vita." The character, a photographer named Paparazzo, reminded Fellini of "a buzzing insect, hovering, darting, stinging."
