  Non-parametric Model for Background Subtraction
On the other hand, if the model adapts too quickly, this will lead to two problems: the model may adapt to the targets themselves, as their speed cannot be neglected with respect to the background variations, and it leads to inaccurate estimation of the model parameters.
This model is expected to have two kinds of false positives: false positives due to rare events that are not represented in the model, and persistent false positives that might result from incorrect detection/update decisions due to changes in the scene background.
For the non-parametric model, a sample of size 100 was used to represent the background; the update is performed using the detection results directly as the update decision, as described in section 2.

A parametric cost model is an extremely useful tool for preparing early conceptual estimates, when there is little technical data or engineering deliverables to provide a basis for using more detailed estimating methods.
The article reviews the types of data collected to support the model, the analysis of the data, the creation of a spreadsheet model based on the analysis, and the various forms of output and presentation data available from the model.
What is learned from this particular parametric model can be applied to other circumstances and used to create other parametric models applicable to other situations.

Third, a new parametric bridging fault model is proposed allowing to realistically represent the faulty behavior according to the intrinsic resistance which is not known a priori.
Finally, a parametric bridging fault simulation algorithm is described together with some redefinition of the classical concepts of fault detection and fault coverage.

A Dispersive Scattering Center, Parametric Model for 1-D ATR - Storming Media
Abstract: The dispersive scattering center (DSC) model characterizes high- frequency backscatter from radar targets as a finite sum of localized scattering geometries distributed in range, these geometries, along with their relative locations, can be conveniently used as features in a one-dimensional automatic target recognition (ATR) algorithm.
The DSC model's type and range parameters correspond to geometry and distance features according to the geometric theory of diffraction (GTD).
In addition, DSC model feature extraction offers an approximate 85% reduction in the number of features compared to the numerous Fourier bin magnitudes in template matching approaches to ATR.

Parametric models play an important role in broad areas of science and technology.
It comprises of a module for parameter estimation based on a solution for generalized least squares problems and of a procedure for error propagation, which takes both the geometric arrangement of the input data points and their precision into account.
The results from error propagation are used to complement each model parameter with a precision estimate, to assign an inlier set of data points supporting the fit to each extracted model, and to determine the a priori unknown total number of meaningful models in the data.
