In the Tsardakia area, south of the modern town of Paramythia, the existence of the polygonal wall and the box-shaped tomb of the Later Copper age are some of the frew samples of the Mycenean civilization in Thesprotia.
Paramythia is the center of the region (Loutra, "Koulia"), with the other smaller settlements not being inferior, as is evident from the extant, mostly ecclesiastic, buildings: Monastery of Prodromos, Monastery of Ag.Dimitrios of Kamini, settlement of Osdina or Ouzdina in the region of Pente ekklisies with well preserved paintings in the Post-Byzantine churches.
The Egnatia highway brings Paramythia much closer to the development poles of Epirus, Igoumenitsa and Ioannina and thus the "space key" for the economic development of the region is set: The Junction of Neochori, the Craft Park, the Trade Center, are the infrastructures which support the economy of tomorrow.

It is 82 km from Ioannina and 35 km from Igoumenitsa and its port.

One of the bases that the British flew from was well hidden in the mountains, and called Paramythia, "Valley of Fairey Tales" to the RAF.
Paramythia kept flying through much of it and 10 Blenheims of 11 Squadron flew up from Larissa on the 23rd Feb, but on the way four were forced to return and a fifth crashed in a forced landing.

This decorative relief from a mirror cover shows the goddess Aphrodite and the Trojan Anchises, the parents of Aeneas, reclining on Mt. Ida.
This relief, together with a number of bronze statuettes and fragments of large statues, was said to have belonged to a hoard found at Paramythia in north-western Greece, but the bronzes are of different dates and styles and do not form a coherent group.

The ruins of the byzantine baths of Paramythia are located to the north and close to the post-byzantine Church Kimiseos Theotokou, which is also known as Megali Ekklisia (Great Church).
Today only a part of the vaulted brick-made building (which has compact walls containing the clay water pipes) is preserved.
According to one theory, it is believed to have been a part of the outbuildings of the Church Kimiseos Theotokou, since the latter initially was the katholikon (central church) of a monastery.
