	Parapotamos Municipality - The history of the municipality
		Parapotamos was inhabited by Muslim Turk-Albanians until 1944 who were driven off by the rebels (who it is known that they had joined the conquerors).
		In 1944 and on all the inhabitants of Elataria (Lambanitsa) which is northwest of Paramythia moved to Parapotamos that was called Varfani until then.
		In 1990 with the voluntary union of Dramesi and the settlement of Agios Georgios, the Municipality of Parapotamos was founded, the first municipality in Epirus and the only one in Thesprotia created this way.

		The Municipality of Parapotamos belongs to the Prefecture of Thesprotia and the Region of Epirus.
		The seat of the Municipality of Parapotamos is the homonym settlement located in the west part of the municipality and built at the foot of Vasilakis (Ntoulka) hill and next to the river Kalamas (Thyamis).
		This location gave the settlement its present name, "Parapotamos" (=next to the river).
