The original Parappa the Rapper first appeared on the Playstation back in 1997 and at the time was a revolution that more or less started the music genre craze by flawlessly integrating music and gameplay in a videogame and inspiring a slew of music-based titles that Konami later refined into their massively popular Beatmania franchise.
Parappa the Rapper was then followed by Um Jammer Lammy which took a similar approach to the original but received less attention from the gaming public due to its "weird" nature.
Parappa the Rapper 2 is a great alternative to the frantic paced music action found in Rez and Frequency.

Parappa and its follow-up Um Jammer Lammy featured a distinct visual style engineered by taking the flat drawings of animator Rodney Greenblatt and animating them in a brightly colored, extremely vibrant 3D space giving the characters the appearance of flat papers.
The new tracks in Parappa 2 have a similar feel to them and are performed with silly irreverence by the same cast of excellent actors who appeared in the first game.
Parappa’s songs are quite creative and silly yet hard to get out of your head even after a few listens and make the game quite enjoyable throughout.

Of course Parappa and his mates take it upon themselves to get to the bottom of the mystery, by rapping with a series of "teachers" who can each help Parappa in their own special way.
I could wholeheartedly recommend Parappa 2 to any PS2 owner were it a bit cheaper, but the shocking lack of replay value really does set it back, and that's a real shame.

Parappa 2 has eight levels, each of which has several small sections, and can easily be beaten in two hours, depending on how quickly you can pickup the rhythm of the game.

PaRappa 2 is very simple for anyone decent at rhythm games and will likely be beaten in about an hour.

For those of you who think Sony isn’t good for the industry or doesn’t have good first party support, then I hope you are not a music genre fan as it might not be where it is today without them.
When they released PaRappa the Rapper back in 1996, it not only was an overnight success, but it spawned a whole new genre that has evolved dramatically over the last five years.
Hopefully when PaRappa the Rapper 2 is released in the US, it will be a bit cheaper than the standard $49.99 price tag that most PS2 games carry as the length of the game probably doesn’t warrant the price.

The story is very light throughout the game and it does a good job of bringing a little humor and a Saturday morning cartoon-style to the character interaction, as PaRappa tries to figure out whose behind the outbreak of noodles so he can put a stop to it.

The idea behind the parappa series is pretty clever, you're a dog(?) and you follow a plot line.
In the second game you have to save the town from spaghetti, to do this you have to rap along with the games characters (including a onion man(who was also in the first game)).
