Parke County is a county located in the state of Indiana.
Parke was a delegate of Indiana Territory to the U.S. Congress.
In the county the population was spread out with 23.90% under the age of 18, 7.30% from 18 to 24, 28.70% from 25 to 44, 25.40% from 45 to 64, and 14.70% who were 65 years of age or older.

 Parke County, Indiana Genealogical Records Information
Parke County was organized January 9, 1821 becoming effective April 2, 1821, was named in honor of Benjamin Parke, the first member of Congress for the Territory, and afterwards a Territorial and then a District Judge.
No county buildings were erected until 1826, when a log Court House was built, which served the dual purpose of a temple of justice and a house of worship.
Parke County is generally considered the "Covered Bridge Capital of the World" because of the 31 structures still standing.

 West Union Covered Bridge, Parke County, Indiana
The West Union Covered Bridge crosses Sugar Creek beside County Road 525 in Parke County.
This double span Burr Arch Truss structure has a length of 315 feet, or 334 feet including the 9-foot 6-inch overhang at each end, is 17 feet wide and 14 feet 6 inches high.
Built in 1876 by Joseph J. Daniels, the road bypassed the West Union Covered Bridge in 1964, and though no historical marker is present, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
