Parliament House in Edinburgh, Scotland, was home to the pre-1707 Scottish Parliament, and is now used by the High Court of Justiciary and the Court of Session.
The oldest part of Parliament House is Parliament Hall, which King Charles I had built as a permanent home for the parliament.
After the Act of Union 1707 the Parliament of Scotland was dissolved, and the building ceased to be used for its original function.

The vast majority of the artworks in Parliament House belong to the Faculty of Advocates, which has for centuries followed a policy of art acquisition and of making its art collection available for public display.
