 Wendy Windblows Parlick Station Information Page
Parlick Wendy station is on the radio mast about 300 yards East of Longridge Golf Club, and Longridge Fell, East of Preston, Lancs.
The Parlick site is a little way to the North, used by Hang Gliders, and Paragliders, who belong to the Pennine Soaring Association, who should be contacted before flying a Hang or Paraglider in the area.
The Wendy is at a height of 800ft AMSL, whereas Parlick is some 1300ft, so winds on Parlick will often be higher than the station readout in stable conditions.

Fair Snape Fell and Parlick Fell have been deservedly popular with walkers for more than thirty years, even since an early voluntary agreement gave access to a small wedge of hilltop at the southern edge of Bowland.
It's always a privilege to see one of these rare birds, though I can't help remembering the scary time a maternal hen harrier persistently dive-bombed me in another part of Bowland for accidentally approaching her nest — and I was on a proper right of way at the time, too.
Parlick, however, can be a slight disappointment, as the summit is bisected by boundary fences.

 Fair Snape Fell and Longridge Fell
The white-painted trig point on the top of Longridge Fell is very prominent from quite some distance away.
Looking across the broad valley of one of the tributaries of the River Ribble to the southern edge of the Forest of Bowland, from Parlick to Totridge, the whole shown on some maps as Sykes Fell.
I was actually born in a house with a view of these fells from the bedroom in which I was born, and have walked all over them many times.

Parlick (Longridge) behaves even worse in Easterlies - when the wave downwind of Pendle can either come down and hit the ground, making Wendy read MORE than it is on Pendle, or the wave can bounce up well above the Wendy, making it read LESS than on Pendle.

 Chipping Show
From the showground the route is flagged out of Chipping, taking tracks and fields and is marshalled along the way towards Parlick.
From the drive it is flagged across the fields towards the bottom of Parlick.
The route then contours round to the first Checkpoint and after that is unflagged, but is well marshalled at all of the other Checkpoints.

There's also a 'proper' gliding club landing strip out of view to the right, and a couple of gliders can just be seen taking advantage of the air currents above the edge of the fell.

I would recommend Parlick (look on a map for it)
Parlick Is Really really really steep man a stunningly fast park at bottom of hill and push up (u cant ride it) at top turn around and come down look for the drops into the streams and the nataural drop off's it is nuts !!!!!
They are only Access Areas so public access could be rapidly withdrawn if the landowner (The Duke?) gets pi**ed off with MTB-ers.

A large round cairn on the summit of Parlick Hill, the circular mound is 17m in diameter and up to 1.4m high, it is mostly turf and stone covered with many lose stones which are periodically rearranged into circles or cairns by hikers.
The site is easy to locate on the summit of Parlick Pike being situated by a stile over a barbed wire fence which bisects the cairn, but the climb is long & steep.

Thankfully I woke to a glorious blue sky (phew!) So I left home and drove for half an hour or so before parking up and setting off at 10am on the dot, a very early walking start time for me!
Fair Snape Fell on the left and Parlick on the right from near Bleasedale School.
Interesting peat formations to cross, reminiscent of Kinder Scout.
