The open lakes result in lake effect snow squalls on the eastern and southern shores of the lakes, that affect much of the Georgian Bay shoreline including Killarney, Parry Sound District, Muskoka and Simcoe County; the Lake Huron shore from east of Sarnia northward to the Bruce Peninsula, sometimes reaching London.
In 1792, the four districts were renamed: Hesse became the Western District, Lunenburg became the Eastern District, Mecklenburg became the Midland District, and Nassau became the Home District.
In 1849, the districts of southern Ontario were abolished by the Province of Canada and county governments took over certain municipal responsibilities.

Parry Sound, the largest natural harbour on Georgian Bay, was named by "Captain Henry Bayfield" after Sir William Edward Parry, the Arctic explorer.
The Ottawa, Arnprior and Parry Sound railway arrived in nearby "Depot Harbour" in 1897, and Parry Sound's first rail service, the Canadian Northern, arrived in 1906.
During both World Wars, Parry Sound's population was swelled by workers from the nearby explosives plants at Nobel.

I believe that the most effective outcome of my assessment would be to dissolve the existing Board and merge the District of Muskoka operations with the Simcoe County and District Health Unit and merge the portion of the health unit within the District of Parry Sound operations with the North Bay District Health Unit.
The Board of the MPSHU should be dissolved and the Muskoka District operations should be merged with the Simcoe County District Health Unit and the Parry Sound District operations should be merged with the North Bay District Health Unit.
A merger Transition Team should be created to oversee the merger of the MPSHU with the new health alignment and two Transition Teams appointed, one for the merger of the District of Muskoka and the SCDHU, and one for the merger of the District of Parry Sound and the NBDHU.

 MAH - Government Assists Tenants With Rent Arrears
PARRY SOUND The Ontario government and the District of Parry Sound Social Services Administration Board are helping local, lower-income tenants with short-term arrears stay in their homes through an emergency rent bank. 
The announcement was made by Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing John Gerretsen and chair of the Parry Sound District Social Services Board Rick Zanussi.
The District of Parry Sound will receive more than $34,000 under this program.

After numerous other positions with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR), for the past 13 years I have been the District Planner for MNR’s Parry Sound District, which covers all of the District Municipality of Muskoka and much of the Territorial District of Parry Sound.
This included leading our District’s participation in MNR’s Ontario’s Living Legacy (OLL) process, through which 55 new conservation reserves and 8 new provincial parks or park additions were created on Crown land in our District.
These conservation reserves are located on provincially owned Crown land in the District Municipality of Muskoka and in much of the Territorial District of Parry Sound.
