		In 1792, the four districts were renamed: Hesse became the Western District, Lunenburg became the Eastern District, Mecklenburg became the Midland District, and Nassau became the Home District.
		In 1849, the districts of southern Ontario were abolished by the Province of Canada and county governments took over certain municipal responsibilities.

		PARRY SOUND — The Ontario government and the District of Parry Sound Social Services Administration Board are helping local, lower-income tenants with short-term arrears stay in their homes through an emergency rent bank.
		The announcement was made by Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing John Gerretsen and chair of the Parry Sound District Social Services Board Rick Zanussi.
