Parry says this is extremely telling: the tales certainly present the women as complicit in some degree to deception and adultery, but they are never punished within the bounds of the narrative the way the male characters are.
Parry pays a good deal of attention to the fact May’s thoughts are interrogated, but never explicated; the Merchant allows for May’s existence of an independent cognitive entity from the men around her, but does not supply us with any description of her or of what actually is going on in her head (156-160).
Perhaps the most underdeveloped (and undeservedly so) part of Parry’s thesis is his assertion that they way each woman specifically functions within her tale (as he points out, there are subtle yet important differences) reflects the ongoing theme of the roles of destiny vs. fate, and the interventions of the gods, in the tellers’ narratives.

Phyllis Bird argues that "where women appear at all in the standard [biblical texts], it is in incidental references, as exceptional figures, or in limited discussion of practices or customs relating especially to women.
Bird also reminds us that "a woman's primary and essential role within the family, with its multiple demands of time and skill,.
While Professor Bird's comments are limited to the Hebrew Bible, I believe her notion of dialogue with the text can be expanded to include the ways we approach the scriptures of the restored church.

 WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT PLAN
The underlying aim of these studies is to ascertain the current status of several suites of sensitive or ecologically important species and to compare this information with that gained from previous studies, in order to determine population trends and to recommend appropriate management actions for the curtailment of the loss of species.
Another example is that a bird with a typical dispersal distance of eight miles has the ability to breed with individuals located or dispersing within that distance, but if the nearest population of this species is 30 miles away, the two populations may be considered effectively isolated from each other.
Based on their results, we summarize the status of seven different sensitive bird species, each suspected to be resident, or at least a visitor to the Reserve.

Addendum (8/18): This August 18 article by Robert Parry, author of the book "Secrecy & Privilege: Rise of the Bush Dynasty from Watergate to Iraq," and a former AP and Newsweek writer, is a perfect example of how not to write about Judge John Roberts and comparable worth.
Parry's apparently impressive credentials as a reporter, Parry apparently had absolutely no idea what "comparable worth" proposals were designed to do when he wrote his screed.
As such, Parry makes the mistake of assuming that Roberts' opposition to handing government the power to set public and private wage rates necessarily means that Roberts, when he worked in the Reagan Administration, thought women deserved to be paid less (for the same work) than men.

This need not preclude the opposite perspective, the 'bird's eye view' and the study of stable after-the-fact panoramas, but the two perspectives need to be considered together.

Foley's account of Parry's work is accurate except for his belief, which is widely shared, that Lord 'would wholly redefine the nature and goals of the enquiry'.
But this too neglects Parry's principle that the epic diction will modernize except where metre forbids: hence the full forms will have been preserved in the Aeolic tradition as archaisms needed for the formulaic systems to function.
