Parson Cross park was formed in the 1950s to serve the surrounding housing estate.  A cricket square and football pitches were created.  In the 1960s bowling greens, tennis courts, a rose garden and a pavilion were added.
A work horse and a farmer with a sack of spuds.  Before the houses were built on Parson Cross the area was farmed for wheat and potatoes.  Horses were used to plough the fields.  Work horses returned to Parson Cross in 2005 to plough the housing demolition sites in preparation for sowing wildflowers.
Parson Cross park is part of the Three Parks Programme and was the first park of the three to undergo development works.  A masterplan report was written in 2001 by ECUS.
