Parsons is a city located in Labette County, Kansas, in the southeast section of Kansas between Erie, Kansas and Oswego, Kansas along Highway 400 near Big Hill Lake and Neosho State Lake and Park.
Parsons is also home to the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center, which has been in operation since 1903 when it was opened as the Kansas State Hospital for Epileptics.
Parsons was the birthplace of actress Zazu Pitts and jazz musician Buck Clayton aka Wilbur Dorsey Clayton and was the home town of singer Clancy Hayes.

EDWARD PALMER, one of the proprietors of the Parsons Coal Co., was born at Andover, Mass., March 21, 1848.
In 1882 he was transferred to the Kansas Conference, and had charge of the State Line Church, Kansas City, Mo. In October, 1882, he was appointed to the pastorage of the church at Parsons.
He is a member of the Southeastern Kansas District Medical Association, of the Labette County Medical Society, is one of the Board of United States Examining Surgeons, and he has served as Alderman and as a member of the Board of Education.

Waller having lived in Parsons from its beginning, his history has been identified with the growth of the city.
He was married in 1860, and continued a resident of Spencer County, Ind., until the death of his wife in 1863, at which time he removed to Nebraska City, Neb., and became engaged as local editor on the Press, a paper published by his brother, W. Waters, at that place.
To her public spirit, perseverance and ability, Parsons is also indebted for its magnificent public library building and its valuable contents.
