The city of Parsons, Tennessee, proposes to construct a new 50- by 50-foot concrete water intake structure located at Tennessee River mile (TRM) 136 and a 6.1–mile, 24-inch water distribution pipeline in Decatur County, Tennessee, between the Parsons Water Treatment Plant (PWTP) and the proposed intake structure.
The purpose of the proposed action by the city of Parsons is to improve the reliability, quality, and quantity of water available to PWTP, which currently serves the city of Parsons, Decatur County, Perryville Utility District, North Utility District, Decaturville, and Scotts Hill.
Surveys conducted by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency indicated “no adverse impacts would occur to the gray bats (Myotis grisescens),” and neither of the mussel species (orange foot pimpleback, Plethobasus cooperianus; ring pink, Obovaria retusa) were located during surveys in the area of the proposed intake structure.

The Tennessee Midland Railway Company was charted December 29, 1886, and constructed 135.6 miles of track during the years from 1887-1889 to connect Memphis, Tennessee to the Tennessee River at Perryville, Tennessee.
In Decatur County, Tennessee first was Beacon (called Moray until the railroad), which was named for the Decatur County Beacon newspaper established by W.V. Barry; Parsons, named for the Parsons family (son-in-law of Henry Myracle); and Perryville, which was already named for Perry County, TN.
Parsons was sometimes called Parsons Flat because of the lay of the land.

The hottest Tennessee player right now might be Mark Parsons who has now won nine matches in a row including one tournament title (Milwaukee Classic) and has advanced to the quarterfinals here at the SEC Indoors.
Parsons first defeated Daniel Kiernan of LSU 6-3, 6-3 in the second round before taking a three-set victory over Kristofer Stahlberg of Ole Miss 7-5, 2-6, 6-3.

The Tennessee tennis team will be in action Sunday, Jan. 14 in their first dual match of the season against UT-Chattanooga at the Goodfriend Indoor Tennis Center on the UT campus starting at noon.

Parsons Waterworks were installed in 1935, by Voltz Construction Co. Two wells were dug in the City Park on 69 Highway N. which served the town for a short time but the supply wasn't adequate.
Parsons owns a park located on highway 69 which affords pleasure for the youngsters by way of swings, slides, see-saws, etc. and for the bit older ones, a tennis court was built for the fascinating game of tennis.
