Blethers.com - Stuart Mudie's weblog - The fifth province of Galicia holds the balance of power
The ruling Partido Popular is currently one seat short of an absolute majority and risks being removed from power by a left-wing alliance between the Socialist party and the Galician nationalists.
For it seems that they will now be decided not by the residents of any of the four provinces that make up Galicia itself, but by the so-called "fifth province", the emigrant vote of the Galician diaspora.
At the time of writing, it looks highly unlikely that the Partido Popular will gain enough votes to win an overall majority, leaving the way clear for the left-wing coalition to form a new government - but with so many figures being tossed around in the Spanish press, it's hard to be certain.
