"The Future of the League of Women Voters," 1921
If the local centers of partisan political activity functioned vigorously and provided the American nation with a sufficient means of informing, unfolding and clarifying popular opinion, party politicians would not fear the competition of a League of Women Voters and such a League would be deprived of its clearest title to existence.
A League of Women Voters which competes, no matter how prudently and provisionally, with the absolute authority which the national parities are entitled to exert on the political decisions of their members is to that extent a menace to American institutions.
Instead of discrediting the League, as he intended, the Governor’s indictment of its objects will intensify its appeal to those of the newly enfranchised voters who believe that the bestowal of political power on women can be made to contribute a positively new element to the standards and practices of American politics.

But as a trait of the grassroots and not just the party, Partisan War Syndrome could be positively devastating not just for issue advocacy, but also for Democrats' political aspirations as well.
This is the syndrome resulting from the shellshock of the partisan wars that marked the Clinton presidency.

Partisan game-playing is business as usual for Wilson and it wouldn't be so sickening if only she would lay off the smug prudishness and save her self-righteous diatribes for real issues like this miserable war in Iraq.
It is plainly she and the recklessly arrogant men in the White House who view this war as a game, and it is they who will share in paying the political price for it in November.
Apparently Wilson wants us to believe that when constituents who don't agree with her engage in the political process they're just playing "games."

The Partisan Review writers and their City College acolytes fused these two tremendous energies into a radical critique of an American capitalist society in crisis, hoping to provide a path out of the darkness of the Depression.

The articles in Partisan Review were both densely written and wide-ranging in their scope.
