Abstract: The wood-warblers (family Parulidae) fall within a radiation of passerine birds commonly known as the New World nine-primaried oscines.
Accordingly, although the magnitude of bill variation among the honeycreepers is similar to that of the entire passerine radiation, this dramatic morphological radiation represents but an extreme manifestation of a general clade-specific ability to evolve novel morphologies.
That wintering redstarts foraged faster, attacked prey less often, and spent more time foraging than those in summer indicates that the winter is a period of relative food scarcity for this species, whereas the breeding season is a period of greater resource abundance.

National Museum of Natural history, Laboratory of Molecular Systematics, MSC MRC 534, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. Development of conservation and management plans can be aided by genetic data, and the utility of microsatellites for studies of genetic variability, population structure, gene flow, and relatedness makes these loci appropriate for studies of declining natural populations.
Wood warblers (Parulidae), a New World family of 115 species of 25 genera, have played an important role in studies of avian ecology, evolution, hybridization, and behaviour.
Genomic DNA was extracted using a diatomaceous earth/guanidine thiocyanate extraction protocol (Carter and Milton 1993) and diluted to 20 ng/µL for use in PCR experiments.

The North American yellow-breasted chat, Icteria virens, is classified in the family of wood warblers, Parulidae, but is relatively large (18 cm/7 in) and far from typical of this group.
Other chats in the family Parulidae include the rose-breasted chat, Granatellus pelzelni, of northern South America and the red-breasted chat, G. venustis, of Mexico.
Both are strikingly marked birds with predominantly red hues, rather than the yellows found in most parulids.

This is only true "family book" in that it covers the 116 species of Parulidae recognized by the author (including a couple recently extinct ones), and includes color plates (by David Quinn and David Beadle) of all the species.
This effort strongly resembles a Pica Press family book with plates in one location with facing text, and the main text elsewhere.
