Pascal Salin is professor of economics at the University of Paris-Dauphine, adjunct scholar of the Mises Institute, and the author of many books on macroeconomics and public policy.
Professor Salin is on the faculty of the Rothbard Graduate Seminar.
Salin: It is an assertion not so much about society but about individuals: it is the conviction that individuals can manage themselves in every aspect of their lives, with only one constraint: that they respect the rights of others.

 Capitalist Revolt in France!
Salin shows that the tradition he represents is exactly right, that the state leaves nothing but destruction in its wake, and that the energy and development of a social order relies wholly on the liberty and creativity of individuals and their private associations.
His third reason: the European Union, which Salin has opposed as bureaucratic and centralist, at least has the good effect of weakening the bonds of the French youth to their own central government and drawing their attention to economic and political developments in other countries.
At the same time, Salin warns that as young people continue to lose faith in the system, the bureaucrats and their media counterparts are becoming more vehement in their defense of the old order.

IPcentral Weblog: Radical Ideas Reviewed: Can Contracts Substitute for IP?
In Milan, Professor Pascal Salin of the Universite Paris Dauphine delivered a challenging talk going to the fundamentals of intellectual property--asking, in effect, how can one in principle support IP at all?
The main difference is of course that IP is enforceable against third parties without going through the gyrations that one would have to go through to contrive such protection by contract.
So my partial answer to the excellent questions raised by Professor Salin: In a sense, intellectual property law is contract law already...
