The Passaic Valley Sewage Commission showed up and brought volunteers and trucks to pick up the garbage bags that accumulated during the clean up.
The impassioned volunteers worked at a steady pace as they gathered what amassed to be approximately five tons of trash that washed down the river and settled on the banks.

A dream to organize a New Jersey Post of the Ukrainian American Veterans living in Bergen and Passaic Counties came true after a general meeting was held at the Ukrainian Center in Passaic on March 10, 1963.
Pope outlined the functions of the national organization and stated that the charter for the new Ukrainian American Veterans (UAV) Post 17 of Passaic, N.J. had been approved at the National Board meeting on March 30, 1963.
In 1987, Post 17 purchased a plot at Cedar Lawn Cemetery and erected a monument, which is dedicated to honor the deceased veterans of the Post and deceased Ukrainian American servicemen from Bergen and Passaic Counties.
