Pat Thrall was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Northern California and began attracting attention as a guitarist in 1976 while working with Stomu Yamashta's Go.
Pat was singled out by the readers of Guitar Player magazine in 1980, when they named him that year's best new talent for his guitar work with the Pat Travers Band.

Although he weighed over 240 pounds, Pat never lost his speed and during the winter and spring, he worked out with the Terrier track team running the dashes, as he had done in high school where he was a consistent point winner in the 100.
Pat won All-New England honors as a junior and senior, and was selected on the AP and UPI All-East teams and on Look Magazine's District I All-America team.

Pat Hughes was selected in the third round of the 1975 NHL Amateur Draft by the Montreal Canadiens, 52nd overall.
Hughes played in Edmonton for four years, which, incidentally, were also the four best seasons of his NHL career, three times surpassing the 20-goal plateau.
Hughes also had short stays with the Buffalo Sabres and the St. Louis Blues before finishing his NHL career in 1986-87, playing two games with the Hartford Whalers.

She was married to James A. Hughes for 32 years before his death in 1974.
Pat and Jim retired to Bangor, and Pat worked in the Bangor area as a property and gift shop manager after Jim's death.
