Additionally, it gave LaMarche a vital taste of life outside the United States, and placed her in a position from which she is able to make better-informed decisions regarding what course of action is best for America and Americans.

Until the beginning of her vice-presidential campaign, LaMarche was employed by a country music radio station in Maine under the pseudonym of "Genny Judge;" however, this ended with her candidacy.
On September 5, 2004, LaMarche announced that she would be visiting and staying overnight in homeless and domestic violence shelters throughout the United States in a campaign tour designed "to draw attention to those living on the edge of society".
LaMarche announced her candidacy on the Maine Green Independent Party ticket for the 2006 gubernatorial race in Maine against incumbent Democrat John Baldacci.

Those who know Pat LaMarche - and in her home state of Maine, that's plenty of people - say the Green Party's newly nominated candidate for vice president of the United States is a smart person, an eloquent speaker, a tough campaigner and an excellent addition to the ticket.
LaMarche was on her way back from the national convention in Milwaukee on Sunday and was unavailable for comment.
In February, LaMarche told the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram that "it's of absolute, utmost importance that George Bush not be re-elected," and that she does not want Democrats to be able to say that a Green was a spoiler this time around, drawing votes from anyone who opposes the president.

Green Independent gubernatorial candidate Pat LaMarche called Thursday for the creation of a Maine Healthcare Authority that would administer a lifetime health care system for all Mainers financed in part by taxes on employers.
LaMarche's plan envisions having the state petition for the release of federal Medicaid funds for incorporation into the new system and direct billing of the federal government for expenses incurred by federal employees living in Maine.
LaMarche's plan also envisions the development of graduate schools to train medical doctors, dentists and pharmacists as steps toward alleviating what it describes as a shortage of health care providers in Maine.

Lamarche's political instincts tell her to go for the jugular on Dirigo; but their single payer plan is very utopian.....unfortunately, it is all they have.
Whether it is by politically calculated design or whether it's a true shift in Green politics in Maine is debatable but LaMarche stands to draw off as many conservative votes as she drawing votes from the left.
