Now Summitt is being inducted into the Hall, the one in Springfield, Mass., and the last thing she said that day in Kansas City three years ago could be on her plaque because it explains exactly how Pat Summitt became the coach she is.

Summitt, who just completed her amazing 31st season at the helm of the Lady Vols, has kept her elite program in the winner's circle for over three decades, and there is no chance of a let-up in sight.

Summitt was found to be the youngest coach in the nation to reach 300 victories (34 years old), 400 victories (37 years old), 500 wins (41 years old), 600 victories (44 years old), 700 wins (47 years old) and 800 victories (50 years old).
Summitt, who has been named Naismith College Coach of the Year in 1987, 1989, 1994 and 1998, led the Lady Vols to a perfect 39-0 record in the 1997-98 season and the NCAA championship.
In a poll conducted on coaches ages and victories, Summitt was found to be the youngest coach in the nation to reach 300 victories (34 years old), 400 victories (37 years old), 500 wins (41 years old), 600 victories (44 years old), the youngest to 700 (47 years old and to 800 (50).

I recently asked Summitt if she could have envisioned what she and the program have accomplished back in 1974 when the freshly graduated 22 year old became the head coach at Tennessee.
There may be a lot of records, but there's only one Pat Summitt; arguably the best thing to happen to women's basketball and most certainly the best thing for the Lady Vols and their fans.
