Pat Travers was born in Toronto, Canada on April 12, 1954.
It was after the release of his album "Putting It Straight" that Pat returned to the North America as the trend in the UK was leaning towards the punk rock revolution instead of the hard blues driven rock that Pat was producing.
Pat's Blues Bureau years are perhaps his most significant in that he has worked with many musicians and the songs feature more of the classic blues based guitar that fans crave.

Travers first emerged in 1976, (between the careers of Robin Trower and Stevie Ray Vaughan), and was considered one of the hottest axemen on the scene, especially during the early ‘80s.
Travers soon became known for his powerful live shows, and by the time his eponymous debut LP was released in late 1976, the word was out.
Travers continued to tour, but did not return to recording until 1992, when he signed as a contemporary blues artist with the L.A. based Shrapnel Records.

Travers used quite of bit of effects on his guitar, but at all times the effects added to the music, rather than take away.
Travers uses delay and leslie effects just enough to add character to the songs, but the guitar sound still stays clear and punchy in the mix.

Pat wrote all the material unlike his previous two albums apart from a co write with Cowling and once again the material is excellent with opening track Life In London getting things off to a fine start.
It has to be said that Pat's guitar playing on this album is quite stupendous and the keyboard support from former Rainbow man Tony Carey certainly gives the band a fuller sound that not only fills in the gaps but also acts as an excellent support to Pat Travers guitar.
The addition of Pat Thrall also was a welcome change, which allowed the band to move in a slightly different although no less exciting direction.

In the 70s, The Pat Travers Band were quite simply one of the tightest, hardest rocking and most spirited bands to take the stage.
This show was filmed in Travers' hometown of Toronto during that tour, and if you're expecting to see an archive of evidence that yet another rocker had lost his touch, forget it.
The new band was nearly as tight as the classic Travers lineup (you can't lose guitarist Pat Thrall and drummer Tommy Aldridge and not give up at least somethin' in that department), and the energy was right where it ought to be.

Travers opens up with some right hand hammer-ons ala Billy Gibbons, before settling into some major pentatonic licks, which he reels off with a slashing, hacking pick attack.
Travers has an extremely hard picking attack and a squeaky, biting edge to his lead sound, where the pick attack is very audible.
Travers moves over to keys on this tune and hands the guitar reins to Thrall, who responds with some really nice stuff.

I've been a Pat Travers fan for a couple of decades now, my first exposure to his work being a vinyl copy of his famous Live...Go for What you Know album.
Pat got together with Carmine and bassist Uriah Duffy (with a small contribution from T.M. Stevens) to create It Takes a Lot of Balls, a good time bluesy rock album that flirts with a few different musical styles.
One would be an original Pat Travers album, which I’m pretty sure I’m going to start working on that in December, January, and February.
