His Beatitude Theodoros II, Popa and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, arrived at the Ni Kazantzakis Airport in Heraklion, Crete, on Tueday 19th July 2005 at 08h30, where he was welcomed by the Church, political, military and local officials of the city and municipality of Heraklion.
He gave the Metropolitan a silver pectoral Cross of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and then attended the official dinner which was held at a restaurant at the centre of the toan of Myres.
His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, expressed his sorrow on the tragic events at Sharm-el-Seikh in Egypt, in a telegram sent to the President of the Arab Republic, Mr Mohamed Hosny Mubarak and the Governor of Alexandria Mr Mohamed Abdesalam el Mahgoup on Saturday 23rd June 2005.
