  Patrick Moraz - A Biography
Moraz continued studying with other local luminaries who made him understand what "real" music was and teaching him the secrets of improvisation, composition and expression on a more esoteric and spiritual level.
Patrick's serious commitment to the piano really began while he was living in Vevey, in the same house as, and studying piano by watching and listening to, Clara Haskil, the great Romanian concert pianist who was one of the world's leading authorities on the music of Mozart, Schubert, Schumann and Beethoven.
Patrick's solo effort, the visionary "Story of I", was recorded in the fall of 1975 in the company of John Mc Burnie, (vocals), Jeff Berlin (bass), Alphonse Mouzon (drums), Ray Gomez (guitar), Andy Newmark (drums) and 16 Brazilian percussionists.

 PATRICK MORAZ
atrick Moraz’ tale of the clash between “primitive” and “civilized” cultures brings together the seemingly disparate elements of Brazilian jazz and the burgeoning field of electronic music.
As might be expected, the album runs hot and cold; the melodies are often warm and ingratiating (something he shares with Pat Metheny, along with a hair stylist apparently), but the more synthetic sections fail to fuse with the “primitive” percussion of Djalma Correa et al.
Moraz himself seems to be ambivalent toward electronics, assigning them the role of the aggressor in this battle.

It's essentially an hour-long piano improvisation by Moraz, divided rather loosely into three suites, and interrupted solely by an occasional bloodcurdling whoop from the pianist.
In the end, though, they all flow together in Moraz's inimitable fusion of dark Romanticism and bright Brazilian dance rhythms.

Ground and Sky review - Patrick Moraz - Human Interface
Bad news first: we're talking 1987 and the Cinema label here, so of course you can expect a sound that is fully swathed in the (ahem) 'cutting edge' digital keyboards of the day.
Also, several of the compositions bear Moraz' identifiable stamp as Virtuoso and Eccentric, and from strictly that standpoint have the mastery and quirkiness to generally hold the tolerant and patient prog listener's interest to at least some degree.
However, I believe that if you took many of these songs and transported them back to the 70s with analog synths and a backing band, you'd have an material more or less in the ballpark of The Story of i.

Former Yes and Moody Blues keyboardist Patrick Moraz mixes numerous Latin and rock rhythms together via his lively synth work, resulting in a full-flavored, energetic album.

Sid Smith's Postcards From The Yellow Room: Review: Bill Bruford & Patrick Moraz
In 1983 with King Crimson temporarily indisposed, Surrey-based Bruford made contact with near neighbour and Moody Blues keyboardist, Moraz to form a duo that could create a more flexible music, stripped of the trappings and associated costs of their regular day-jobs.
Though there’s an undeniable jazzy vibe to much of what’s going on, there’s also more than a hint of the symphonically-inclined prog-rock in which both players cut their professional musical teeth.
Similarly Moraz’s soloing is impressive, avoiding as it does the rent-a-quote gratuitous psuedo-classical gas of some of his bloated Prog-rock contemporaries.

The two-and-a-half-star rating for "No Sleep Tonight" is generous, and is primarily for the sound effects that Moraz incorporates into the work.
The song has a certain degree of catchiness, but this is probably because of its similarity to "Gemini Dream", a Moody Blues hit from a few years earlier.
