The Patriot War was a short-lived campaign in the eastern Michigan area of the United States and the Windsor, Ontario area of Canada.
A group of men on both sides of the border, calling themselves "Patriots," formed small militias in 1837 with the intention of seizing the Southern Ontario peninsula between the Detroit and Niagara rivers.
In December, the Patriots crossed the Detroit River into Canada by steamboat and engaged in an unsuccessful battle at Windsor.

The "Patriot War' was brought about by some residents of both upper Canada and the United States, of Irish descent or birth, and United States citizens who had moved to Canada.
This action, most likely inspired by the frontier troubles during the "Patriot War," provided for the organization of a brigade of "State Guards." These troops were to be a sort of superior militia and were to have the preference in the distribution of arms and accoutrements.

Without the Patriot Act, we go back to pre-9/11/2001 when our various domestic and foreign intelligence agencies were PROHIBITED BY LAW from sharing certain information on the movements of "targets" (among other things) with each other.

Yet I believe the President is guilty of trying to win a short war and not understanding fully the nature of the ancient hatreds of the Middle East.
And what that tells me is when you are engaged in a war of insurgency, you can't clear and leave.
Iraq is a battlefield in that larger war.
