Born Patricia Rowlands on January 19, 1934 in Palmers Green, London, England, Rowlands was encouraged by a teacher to apply for a scholarship to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama at age 15.
Rowlands quickly fit in with the series’ recurring cast and she would go on to appear in nine series entries over six years.
Rowlands often appeared in the films as the put upon housewife or the soft-spoken employee who pined for her boss.

LONDON - Actress Patsy Rowlands, a stalwart of the British "Carry On" comedy films, has died at the age of 71, her agent said Tuesday.
Rowlands, who had been suffering from breast cancer, died Saturday at the Martlets Hospice in Hove, southern England, Simon Beresford said.
Rowlands won a scholarship to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama at the age of 15 and began her career at London's Saville Theatre in Sandy Wilson's play "Valmouth."

Although best known for appearing in nine of the Carry On films, she had a long stage career, beginning with Sandy Wilson's Valmouth at the Saville Theatre in 1958, during which she co-starred alongside Laurence Olivier (in Semi-Detached, directed by Tony Richardson, in 1961) and Donald Sinden (in Shut Your Eyes and Think of England).

It is with much sadness that we bring you news that actress Patsy Rowlands passed away on January 22nd 2005, two days after her 71st birthday.
Although best known for her much-loved performances as various down-trodden wives in several "Carry On" films in the 1970s, Patsy will be also be fondly remembered for her two roles alongside Patrick McGoohan in the TV series "Danger Man", particularly her portrayal of Mrs Fairbrother in the highly-regarded episode "The Ubiquitous Mr Lovegrove".
She also appeared as Mrs Harkness in the episode "The Actor", as well as countless other TV, stage, and film productions.

The films simple charm and mining of everyday life events for laughs is a blessing in an age of increasing violent banality.
