Barlow and her colleagues have cleverly reminded us that branding is much more; that it is an active process that translates to living up to a promise.
Barlow and Stewart explore the interrelatedness of the product or service and the promise; they then tie the various connections to the processes required to achieve and maintain the promise.

Sequential Tart - The Report Card
Paul Barlow, together with collaborator Sarah Lee, has done a decent job in adapting this story into comics form and keeping it relatively all-ages, whilst also not sugar-coating the events of the trial and its outcome.
The comic is a mix of fact and fiction — the latter being a mix of authorial voice, and depictions of some of the most outrageous claims made against the unfortunate victims of the purge at the time.
Barlow has not felt the need to dress up the story too much, however — and thank goodness, because frankly it's both bizarre and horrific enough as it is. The artwork is in simple fl and white, and the style is spare enough to appeal to children, whilst still capturing expressions and nuances.

CNBC commentator Barlow, author of A Complaint Is a Gift, and consulting colleague Stewart, regale readers with anecdotes about snippy, sullen, ignorant sales associates who undermine brand loyalty and, worse, waiters and customer service reps whose carefully scripted cheerfulness and solicitude leave customers with a sour aftertaste of inauthenticity.
A case study of a makeover of a Bahamas resort, in which employees were instructed to translate the hotel’s marketing themes into the local island patois and create their own posters, dances and songs about them, gives readers a good sense of the book’s softly totalitarian approach to customer service.
Authors Barlow and Stewart really hit it on the head when they say that your brand is your reputation, and that for service organizations "reputation" is basically how your staff interact with your clients/customers.
