During her recovery, she meets Carter Burke (Paul Reiser), a Weyland-Yutani executive, who reveals to her that she was adrift in deep space for 57 years and that her daughter lived out her life and died two years previously.
Burke says that Weyland-Yutani is willing to pay a substantial sum for alien specimens, and that he will share his profits with her if she cooperates, an offer she vehemently rejects.
Burke tells Bishop that Ash from the original mission was a "Hyperdyne" model of android; this is an inside joke by James Cameron as the the Terminator in his film of the same name was a "Cyberdyne" model.
